The Shard

Description

The Shard, (310mtr) also referred to as the Shard of Glass, Shard London Bridge and formerly London Bridge Tower, is a 95-storey supertall skyscraper, designed by the Italian architect Renzo Piano, in Southwark, London, that forms part of the Shard Quarter development.

Standing 309.6 metres (1,016 ft) high, the Shard is the tallest building in the United Kingdom, and the sixth-tallest building in Europe.

The Shard has 11,000 glass panels, covering 56,000 square metres (602,779 sq ft). This is equal to the size of eight football pitches! It takes 17 (brave) window cleaners 3 months to clean the whole building.
